Managing Yourself

Let me explain what I mean by TEAM:

T — Time, E — Energy, A — Attention, M — Money

These are the four factors most people struggle to manage. If you can balance them in your daily life, you will be living the life you have always dreamed about.

The Four Burners Theory

Our life runs on four burners: Health, Work, Family, and Friends. You have limited time, energy, attention, and money to keep all four running. If you turn one burner high, the others run low.

Health should always stay on. Without it, everything else shortens. Work brings the income to fund the rest — but more work means less time for family and friends. Family is what we care about most. Friends — keeping a small but valuable circle helps save energy for the other burners.

You cannot turn off any burner entirely. But you can balance all four by managing your TEAM.

Managing Time

Have a schedule. Your brain wastes energy deciding what to do next. If you have already decided, you save that energy. Use the Pomodoro technique. Work in focused blocks with short breaks. I use 50 minutes of work with 10 minutes of rest. Adjust based on your ability to focus.

Managing Energy

The Pomodoro technique helps here too — it keeps your energy at its peak throughout the day. Good sleep, healthy food, and exercise may sound boring, but they are your main energy source. Cut bad habits — they drain energy like leeches.

Think about all types of energy: mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual. Balance all four for a consistently good mood.

Managing Attention

The average attention span has dropped to about 8 seconds, thanks to short-form content. Consuming quick dopamine hits makes it harder to focus on longer tasks. To fix this, start consuming longer content and reduce instant-gratification habits.

Managing Money

Learn personal finance. The simplest first step is to track your income and expenses. I am not asking you to stop buying expensive things — just become aware of where your money goes. Self-awareness will naturally guide better decisions.

Conclusion

Be self-aware about where you spend your time, energy, attention, and money. Track as much as you can. Self-awareness is the key to becoming who you want to be.
